Did not follow the instructions provided. 5. It could have been beyond the expiration date. I had some hair loss after the first time I bleached my hair because it was something new and my scalp overreacted. **Q: My hair is naturally ash blonde and doesn't bleach easily. 20 mins only 2 shades lighter. Will this work? How long should I leave it on?** A: All Hair is different, twenty minutes probably does go two shades lighter, but you also have to realize how many shades there are now a days. To get my bleach blonde tone I leave it in for a little less than an hour. It's recommended not to leave it in longer than an hour or your hair will like fall out or something, plus it stops working anyways.
