> DOES THE JOB
MY EXPERIENCE > As a active geezer with no waist, I wanted to be able to be able to carry around water bottles or tools from my belt without my pants falling down. > Actually, my pants don't fall completely down, but I often find myself walking on the cuffs of my pants and ruining them. I also find myself constantly having to "hitch up" my pants, with my shirt riding up. CAUTION > Perry suspenders MUST be worn with a substantial (reasonably thick and wide) belt. >> I use them with 1 1/4" wide military-type fabric belts and similar elastic fabric belts, and they work fine. They'd probably work with any thick leather belt over 3/4" wide. >> If your belt isn't thick enough, you can probably use the "velvet" part (only) of "stick-on" Velcro as a spacer on the inside of the clip. RESULTS > The Perry suspenders solve my problems, and are more comfortable than I expected. > "Standard" fits my 5'10' height fine, and would probably fit anyone up to 6' 6" or so. > Perry seems to be the only brand that clips onto belts without nasty metal clips or awkward stringy attachments. > One review suggest clipping them on backwards so that the "Perry" logo and information do not show. Actually, that seems like the most logical way to install them. But, in fact, it doesn't work, because the back clip can only go one way straddling the central beltloop. WEARING > Put the suspenders in place, unclipped, with the back suspender hanging down your back. Let it hand down in back as far as you can. > Secure the back clip first, with half of each clip on each side of your central back belt loop. > Secure the front clips. > Note that you need to unhook all three hooks to go to the toilet, albeit you can leave them (unhooked) on your shoulders. If you try any half-way unhooking, you are likely to wind up with one or more of the ends in the toilet. > Note that you can only use suspenders with tucked-in shirts. They don't work with sweat-shirts, or tee-shirts, flannel shirts, or fishing-shirts worn "out". > Take some care choosing colors, since these will be rubbing against your shirt, and possibly transferring pigment etc. I am sure that they are colorfast, but even so, I wouldn't wear black or navy-blue suspenders with a white shirt. I choose "tan" because it matches the khaki pants I usually wear, and is unlikely to stain my shirts. CAVEATS > The 1 1/2" suspenders feel a little too springy for me. That is, too elastic. If I tighten them up to the point that I feel support, they are pulling unevenly and look ridiculous. I've learned to wear them loosely, and to my surprise, so far that has been good enough for hiking with a water bottle, but I doubt that they will be adequate for carrying around heavy tools. Next time, I'll try the 2" version. > Some pants have very wide belt loops, in which case securing the back clip can be a little difficult. OTHER REVIEW'S COMPLAINTS > Endless other reviewers squawk, "What's the point of suspenders if you have to wear a belt?" > Answer, "Plenty". I find the combination of a soft flexible belt (which with a military-type buckle is infinitely adjustable Web Belt Military Style with Brass Buckle and Tip 54" Long Many Colors ) with optional suspenders to be the best of all worlds. I can wear my belt loose in appropriate situations with or without suspenders. I can carry around "stuff" on my belt without having to overtighten my belt when I use the suspenders. Even tight the flexible fabric belts do not cut into my gut (as do some wide leather belts). And finally you can get military buckles in zinc or plastic which do not set off metal detectors. > Click on “Stoney” just below the product title to see my other reviews, or leave a comment to ask a question.

Exactly what I was looking for.
Wearing belts was a pain - often literally. As a larger guy, I find I have to ratchet any belt down pretty tight if it's going to do the work of keeping my pants up. If I keep my pants just below my hips, my belly tries to push down on the belt. If I wear them at my natural waist, my belly moves enough throughout the day (even just from breathing) that I worry my pants would fall off even just from breathing, let alone the daily routing of standing, sitting, walking, etc. I could "fix" that by tightening my belt even more, but that gets really uncomfortable really fast. And that feeling at the end of the day when you finally undo your belt? It should never be that much of a relief to unlatch an item of clothing. I started wearing suspenders a couple of years ago and have never looked back. I never have to worry about a belt being so tight that I can't feel my legs by the end of the day. The problem with most suspenders, though, is that they make the waistband on my pants all weird and wavy, because they only hold them up in certain places. Pants just aren't designed to have a stiff waistband because the assumption is that a belt will be doing the work of keeping the waistline straight. But with Perry suspenders, I can keep my waistband straight by using a belt, but use the suspenders to actually keep my pants up. It's the best of both worlds.

Good useful product. Won't be disappointed.
Just recently, well acquiesced to needing, starting wearing suspenders to keep my pants up, the belly you know keeps pushing them down. Tried the belt loop hooks, talk about stress points and hoping the sewing don't give way. Tried clips, I'd get in a car and slipping in if I rubbed by back against the seat ... Off they'd pop. Pain in the rear. These, belt clip, while they have occasionally slipped off usually when getting them on, they've been outstanding. I like the width of the suspenders, and because they're plastic they don't screw with TSA screening. Would recommend and buy again personally. Do need more colors though.

Perfection
I have never worn suspenders, ever, but decided to try these out and see if they help. I work in EMS and carry a bunch of heavy items on my belt and in my pants pockets. I always find myself pulling up my britches or showing my crack to the world. So I took a chance on suspenders and I liked that there don't use clips. On my first shift after using these suspenders I am blown away. I wore them with comfort while standing, sitting, and laying in bed. I can finally clip my very heavy radio to my belt and not have to worry about my pants ending up around my ankles. The clips are good and strong, the straps have lots of adjustment room, and they are easy on/easy off. My main reason for purchasing them was for work but I am also going to wear them casually to help me carry my concealed handgun as I have a CCW permit. I rarely carry because the pistol weight pulls down my pants. These suspenders expand the possibility to carry larger guns and the weight is on the shoulders instead of the hips. I usually find things about products that can be changed or improved upon. I found none on these suspenders. If you are thinking about trying suspenders you need to get these and at least try them. Yes, you can not use them without a belt but for me I always have a belt on. I will be buying another pay in a different color to times that black won't do. Buy them and you will not be disappointed.

These are a life saver! I should have bought these years ago.
I love these so much I will be order a couple more. I never thought I would be a "suspender guy" and yet here I sit. Several things drove me to finally add a pair to my wardrobe. First, my belt is simply not doing its job all alone in holding up my pants properly ESPECIALLY when I have accessories attached to said belt. I could only tighten my belt so much and finally it became apparent that I needed more than the standard looped belt to meet my needs. I researched suspenders for sometime (talk about an interesting search history there...) which brought me to purchasing these Perry suspenders. Here is what I've found since wearing them around regularly for the past couple weeks. Pros: - Easy to adjust (took all of 10-seconds to get the correct fit). - There are no buckles or snaps to come flying off (the belt slides into notches that are intelligently retained). - Well constructed. Very well constructed indeed. - They are surprisingly light weight. I thought initially that they were bulky but then after 2-minutes of wearing them I forgot they were on! Cons: - None! I very much recommend these especially for people that weigh their regular belts down with items such as cell phone cases, a knife, or other devices and equipment. These, in my estimation, are a life saver.

UPDATE: and its not good :(
UPDATE: Removing 2 stars. I have to say that these have stretched out and become almost useless. These have NOT held up as well as the Dickies ones I had previously, and I am quite disappointed. They still attach well, but the straps themselves are next to useless, as I cannot adjust them anymore because the elastic strap fabric has stretched out of shape badly and frankly a lot faster than my previous knock-off Dickies pair. Too bad, I had a decent run with them for a while :( Expected to have them last alot longer.
